For most people, it should come as no surprise that Facebook is a dumpster fire. It wasn’t always that way. Back when Facebook first opened up to the general public it was a social media platform where people could escape the internet trailer park that was MySpace at the time. However, it didn’t take too long before Facebook befell the same fate as MySpace and I’m not talking about sparkly animated gif backgrounds.
Facebook once thought that if they force everyone to use their real names that people will be more civil to each other online. Obviously, that didn’t happen. It also didn’t help that a certain tangerine tinged sex pest of a president is outwardly racist. Yes, the orange man is actually bad.
Then things seemed to take an even worse turn on Facebook after the police murder of George Floyd. When hashtags like #BlackLivesMatter and #DefundThePolice started trending worldwide on various social media platforms it emboldened the Facebook racists even more. What caught my attention was how many of these racists held public positions like teachers, politicians, and even police.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been posting articles to my Twitter and Facebook pages about these racist cretins that are supposed to be keepers of the peace. I’ve posted so many articles that Lady Gray has convinced me it should be a recurring feature here.
So, for however long it takes, I will be calling out the keyboard klan on this blog. As a matter of fact, Keyboard Klan will probably be the name of this feature if I can’t think of another K-word to go along with that title. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments below.
