Beheading video man sent to jail:

A man in Scotland, Subhaan Younis, 23, was having a discussion on the Iraq War with Charlotte McClay last September at a hotel in Glasgow. Younis said he would show her something which would cause her sleepless nights and her reply was ‘Aye right’. He then played video of a beheading in Iraq that he downloaded to his cell phone. Miss McClay was so horrified by the event she pressed charges. Now Younis was sentenced to 60 days for breach of the peace. The magistrate presiding over the case had this to say…

“I struggle to understand why you had images on your phone entailing the death and degradation of another human being, regardless of their religion or race.”

My sentiments exactly. While this seems like a debatable case on free speech I have to chuckle that one of the death watching mutants got 60 days.

    I think is pretty sick for this guy to have that kind of videos in his cell phone, and who in their right mind would think that that is something funny to watch? I mean if i had seen the video i probably would have seen the person’s face for several nights in my sleep.

    and while i agree that his is horrible, it does interfere with his civil rights and free speech. I mean if now a judge is going to decide what we have in cell phones, what are they going to do next? oh wait, everything they can possibly do to violate civil and human rights is already in the patriot act, I probably had the FBI as my guests today, and i’ll never find out.

    Dont get me wrong, i dont agree with this psycho, but i just hate how much power the government has over people’s personal life.

    Oh have you not heard? Since the Tube network got bombed, the UK government has decided that in order to stop the terrorists blowing up half the country, nobody will be allowed to HAVE rights anymore. Cos like, introducing ID cards will really stop people blowing up trains and buses.

    The government is using Anti-Terror laws to slowly but surely chip away at our civil rights. Yes, Mr Blair, by holding onto people’s phone records and monitoring what people are looking at on the Internet, we’ll cattch Osama Bin Laden and all his magic wizards.

    Grrrr.
