As some of you may know, I’ve been a big fan of heavy metal band Iced Earth. I was a fan of theirs for over 20 years. I knew the band’s founder Jon Schaffer was a conservative and a conspiracy theorist, but I didn’t let it bother me because his views weren’t reflected in most of his music. Then the Capitol Riots happened and Schaffer seemed more than happy to participate in them. He was accused of spraying Capitol Police with bear mace. Schaffer was arrested around two weeks after the riot.
This past Friday, Schaffer pleaded guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding and entering a building with a dangerous weapon. Schaffer is said to be the first Capitol rioter to plead guilty. According to the terms of the plea deal, Schaffer might be cooperating with federal investigators by testifying against other Capitol rioters. Depending on the results of his testimony, Schaffer could be looking at 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years in prison. So, I guess we won’t be getting a new Iced Earth album any time soon. It probably also doesn’t help that a number of members have quit the band since Schaffer’s arrest.
I really shouldn’t find anything about this funny because these assclowns attacked the seat of American democracy, but I find it hilarious that these supposed patriots are eagerly turning on each other. I guess when they said “where we go one, we go all” they were talking about federal prison.
